Does anyone own any of the For Dummies book? Maybe it's Windows for Dummies, or something else. Did you guys learn anything from the For Dummies books? I had a few books, mostly PC related stuff. But never owned anything else.
I haven't owned any but I'm still into those types of books, especially for programming and web development. The Bible Series is much better in my opinion for programming/dev stuff. As long as you don't get a version that's outdated. I learned almost all my CSS skills from a book called "CSS the missing Manual". Was a great book for learning CSS. The got for dummies books for just about anything though even cooking. I personally suggest quick scripting references too if you are actually in search of programming books. They tend to make understanding it easier if you combine the 2.
I see so many of them in thrift stores. These days they're pointless with the Internet. But, back then, they were useful in some ways. I wouldn't say use just them to learn, as they won't always go into detail about what you need to do.
