Napster forced the music industry to develop digital distributions and streaming technology, which it could have done far earlier. Had the industry developed that technology instead of attempting to suppress it, the scenario could've changed a bit earlier.
It did it's job and was gone. Napster as a brand Lives on as Music store though.

Yeah. I remember Napster. However I never used it. By the time all that free music got shut down due to copyright violations and lawsuits. I didn't really get any free music LOL.
