It has been a while since we had a retro review of the devices of the ‘90s and the 2000s. Today, I feel motivated to go back to the nostalgic days of the Nokia. The days when Nokia was still the top mobile phone company. What strikes my mind is the Nokia N-GAGE gaming mobile. The early 2000s saw the rise of the mobile smartphones. Different companies came up with unique futuristic designs of their phones with additional features to win the clients. Nokia, being a leader, predicted the growth in the gaming industry. And because of that, they released the N-GAGE, which was a perfect combination of a phone and a gaming device. This device did not sell as much as the standard phones, mostly because of the ergonomics, but I loved the look...
Should we snack while gaming? Homer, no. This is not a misdemeanor to have an appetite for food. Snacking, on the other hand, maybe rather harmful, specifically when done carelessly. For players, this is generally true. How many occasions have you reached for a crispy treat before settling next to your gameplay configuration? It's something I'm ashamed of. I, like Homer, from The Simpsons, like eating. I also have a habit of compulsively munching on my food while playing, something medical authorities advise against. We've all had that sensation when we consume three - fourths of a bag of Doritos by inadvertently (at least, I hope it isn't just myself). You'll believe you just ate a few while waiting for waiting images, but after...
What were some of your best comedy films of the 90’s or maybe through the early 2000s? Were you a fan of the likes of Ben Stiller, Janine Garofalo, Hank Azaria, Greg Kinnear, William H. Macy just to mention a few? Do you those names ring a bell? If no, what about the Mystery Men? Yes, the popular ‘90s superhero comedy film. This was one of the few superhero comedies that got me laughing and got me hooked on the screen for hours on end back then. This week, I thought I should go back in time to the films that really tricked our bones. Those that made us laugh and those that cannot be forgotten because of the epic jokes that they had. Re-watching the Mystery Men this week got my nostalgia juices flowing. I literally had goosebumps while...
If you haven't read part one, you need to read part one before considering constructing your retro gaming console. To recap, part one explains the parts you need and any other accessories to enhance your gaming experience. Enough intro. Should we dive head-on into this how-to tutorial? Software: Four USB 2.0 connections, a Network port, HDMI projection, and a power connector are included in the Raspberry Pi 3. It also features a MicroSD storage that accepts various devices, notably ones with 128GB capacities. The device will serve as a memory for the gadget, and it will be flashed with the graphical interface and applications you want. There are varying os frameworks accessible, the most famous of which are Noobs or Raspbian...
What a great way to start the month like playing some retro games that takes you back in time. This week has been full of nostalgic trip back to the early ‘90s and the 2000s when gaming was just evolving. As the year comes to an end, I feel enthusiastic to take more trips back in time. Both in gaming, TV shows, culture, and music. This week I had a glimpse of the good old days with the mighty and most popular Resident Evil (popularly referred to as RE). I was among the few who watched the movie before playing the game. And the experience was awesome. I was hooked up for life with the game. This is one of those games that left me satisfied after binging on it for hours on ends in he weekends. We would set up challenges with friends and...
Welcome back to another article. We were supposed to publish this content on Wednesday 27th; however, we wanted to do something a bit different than we hadn't done before. Create an article that explains how YOU can build your own retro gaming mini console home using Raspberry Pi. We're going to split this article in two parts (part 1: what you need, and part 2: how to set up and configure the system) What You Are Going To Need and The Costs Of Each Item: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B - from £30 Anyone could use a Raspberry Pi 2 or a very first model, although they are sluggish to operate and have trouble with specific applications. It's true; there's now the newer Raspberry Pi 4, which has more computing capability. However, for the money...
How old were you when the first Tony Hawk’s professional series came out? Or rather, how old were you when the millennium turned (1999 to 2000)? It was a very tensed time all over the world with fear of the world ending because of the Y2K compliance issues. This was the time when the digital world was just catching up. I was a teen then, and looking back, I can still feel the fear and the tension that people had. It was said that computers will “die” and that planes will fall, governments will fall, banks will close and money will be lost. But this were just conspiracies with inadequate scientific backing. When the millennium turned, it was just like any other day! People hid in their bunkers that they had built to safeguard them from...
Back in the early ’90s when the animated series were just catching up, I used to be a die-hard fan of the Batman animated series. Not because of the thrill and the crime or the superhero in Batman, but because of the adventure and the plot and the story behind it. This week I stumbled upon a Batman VCR, and it reminded me of the good old day. I had to binge on some episodes online just to live the moment. And I must admit that I am still as thrilled as I was in the early 90s. These stories never get old. Sometimes I wonder why it was short-lived. From the storyline, it is one of the stories that would amaze all generations. The animated series was really not a re-invention of the Batman we knew, but a new story of its own. I loved how...
What comes to your mind when you think of Silent Hill? Does it bring back the memories of the PlayStation? Yes, me too. The nostalgia around these retro games is just on another level. I get goosebumps every time I remember how I fancied playing the PS2! It was the goddess of gaming at the time. Not having one was keen to a sin. The millennium came with loads of improvement in the gaming industry. Both in design and distribution. This made the industry grow faster in the United States and globally. This was the time when the games manufacturers had developed elaborate distribution networks for their games. The PlayStation had a far more reach worldwide than any other gaming console at the time. With millions of consoled sold all over...
Welcome back to another Article - which was due to be published two days ago on Wednesday. However, I've been trying to think of something that all the retro gaming fanboys would enjoy reading in their spare time and possibly something they can relate to many years ago. So, it's time to sit back, grab your coffee and a snack, and take a walk down memory lane, where we inserted a cartridge into the Gameboy to play the classics that modern-day gaming doesn't have to offer. Players can use it to enjoy Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges onto their machine in the same way they might on backward compatibility. It's also functional with the Game Boy Photo extension, assuming you do have it lying about. The...
Do you sometimes think about how cool the ‘90s classic movies were? Where it is animated series or live comedy shows. This week I have been reminiscing on the good old day when the plot of movies was simple and enjoyable. The days when technology was yet to take over the movie industry. Yes, am talking of the days of The Iron Giant. The American animated sci-fi film by Warner Bros. caught our attention. Just a year before the turn of the millennium, the movie industry had risen. Mostly with musical movies and classics based on even older moves. Books were made into movies and TV series around this time. Many critics and moviegoers alike considered The Iron Giant (TIG) to be one of the best-animated films of the ‘90s to early 2000s...
Ever wondered what decisions and factors we consider before buying a retro game? Most of us share similar decision-making skills and in this article today, I will break down a handful and explain why it's within the best interest of the businessand the consumer to factor in purchasing decisions when trading goods and services. 1. Reviews & Feedback We see them everywhere - moreso now that social media has taken control of our lives, we are seconds away simply just pressing a few things on the screen, we will have what we desire in front of us in a matter of seconds. Most consumers will research businesses before using a service or buying a product. If the customer can clearly see there are negative reviews and the business hasn't...
The mid-'90s to early 2000s was a busy period for Silicon Valley and the entire tech world. This was the time when many information and telecommunication systems were coming to light. It was the time when the personal computer was finally made available to the common folks. The gaming industry was not left behind in this tech evolution period. Do you remember the Sega Nomad? Or did you refer to it as the Genesis Nomad handheld console? During this period, this piece of tech was the in thing. It was the Nintendo of the mid-‘90s. It was a must-have device for the kids back in the ‘90s. Today I take a look back at this retro game. It has been a while since I played with one. Not just the Sega Nomad, but just getting hold of handheld...
Once upon a time, when the internet was still in its development, and the TV industry was still trying new tricks on their animation skills, there was the Moxy Show! Well, if you look at the animations of this particular show, it was not that bad for the early ‘90s. This was the time when Silicon Valley was still young and trying out new things. While this is not your everyday show, the one that will appeal to all ages, the Moxy Show had a distinct storyline that kept us glued to the TV back then. I understand the show received mixed reactions. Based on the reviews from different platforms. But I must admit it still remains one of the best at the time. Yes, many shows are crispier now, with better animation, quality transitions and...
Do you sometimes think of the good old days? When life was simpler? The pandemic and the other stuff going on in life makes me think of the good old days when things were much easier. Shows were, well, just a basic torn down show with a message to pass. The nostalgia of the good old days become even stronger as the world and the internet becomes noisier. This week I bumped into A Goofy Movie! And boy, this show is still on and even better than now than two and half decades ago. A Goofy Movie has been running for over 25 years with improvements in quality, plot and many other aspects of the show that have made it to be among the most popular cartoon shows in the world. Watching A Goofy Movie 25+ years letter brings all the good...

I bet you’re a bit like me: you love flexing like Johnny Bravo and showing off your “not so masculine” muscles! That makes the two of us. Anytime I felt good or felt alive with loads of energy, I would flex in front of my friend and pretend I was Johnny Bravo. Sometimes this didn’t end well, because it would lead to fight just to establish who is the “real” Johnny Bravo. In my normal binging on retro stuff on YouTube, I bumped into Johnny Bravo theme song! This instantly got my thoughts running. It took me way back in time to the later ‘90s! Ohh...those good old days when Cable TV was...well...fun! This theme song got stuck in my head. The nostalgia that was arose by hearing this tune forced me to sit down and write something about...
