vB 4 was alright, but by then it kinda felt more generic than 3.x did, you know?

Indeed. I left vb when they released vb 5, which imo was a piece of crap. It felt to me as they rushed it out to cash in on it.

Ugh I tried vB5 and it felt so generic and corporate I couldn't keep it going. So dissappointing.

With Free i will go with MyBB and with Paid i will go with Woltlab. I am happy with both forum software.

I actually never personally used woltlab but I know about it. If forums werent so hard to manage I'd probably try to start a forum with it.

It is pretty good for the price, first i didn't like it much but days went by and i started to like it and now i love it.

Woltlab is a very good forum and it has a reasonable price imo.

I agree. Only 99 dollars is honestly impressively inexpensive. I'm kinda shocked it hasn't become a bigger name software like vB ir Xenforo or IPB.

It has less addons and themes which makes users to skip it. Now they are slowly developing good addons and themes and many started to use it.

True but at the same time the price is competitive as hell.

SMF is a great puece of software but it does have ita limitations.

vB was very popular back in the day. Nowadays everyone is using Xenforo.

vBulletin was AMAZING in it's day. v 3.5 up to 3.8.11 was probably the most nostalgia I have had with a software.

Xenforo is beyond acceptable honestly. It has so many features that I needed mods for on my old vBulletin forum that this is a massive improvement

Loved vBulletin back in the day. Now, xenForo is what I use at my website. I have heard good things about IPB though, never dealt with them though as an Admin.

I used VB and IPB back in the day. I don't remember too much about IPB except it was definitely a learning curve coming from VB.

Very happy with Xenforo now though. I agree with @Abizaga that Xenforo is definitely what VB could've been if IB didn't turn all of the devs away.

I kinda wish I tried IPB in the early days. I did run a jka clan forum with it.

VB 4.2.5 since 2009, and last week I took xenforo, and all I can say that xenforo is much more modern then VB. I can't say nothing for vb5 because I didn't try it and I never will, because I'm very happy with xenforo!
