Yeah with the ability to edit anything somebody could just come along and start putting in fake information easily.

lol well that was 2001 and it has come a long long way. I've tried to edit the pages just for the sake of testing to see if I could mess with said information. Some of the pages are locked. However I find it useful in some areas. I feel like it's improved a lot since than.

I'm guessing they just made it ao you have to sign up to edit stuff properly now. Honestly a move that should've been done ages ago.

I totally agree. I think the people editing need to provide legitimate resources while submitting it. I think they do that on other alternate forms for people who don't use the wikipedia. My mother is a college teacher and she claims that the college strictly said that the students are not to use wikipedia at all on their assignments. It's seen as unreliable. I guess it was used in the past and it didn't do anyone any good.

Agreed. Could you imagine, that small fix could seriously help out a busted system?

I forgot who it was but some celeb was reading his own wiki and was like "WOW I KNOW HOW TO SKI!?" And another one aged him 10 years older LOL
 
The original Wiki will always have it's cornerstone however I will say that there are lots of other mini Wikis that are made my third party sources that also aren't that bad.

Oh I love those. I use them for canon reference quote a bit! I think this is more specifically about wikipedia as a useful information source.

Anything on the Internet you are reading, just take with a grain of salt. Just because it's on the net doesn't mean it's legit. Half of the news on the net is bullshit.

This. Usually you would do way better finding a book on the subject at hand. :)
